A passion for fabric: sophisticated textiles for tasteful furnishings.

Création Baumann has been designing and developing fascinating fabrics and textiles for over 125 years. Every step of the process – from yarn to finished cloth – is carried out in Langenthal. Starting in the company’s own design workshop, the products pass through the in-house winding and twisting workshops, are dyed and woven, printed and finished.

The end result is a design product that holds its own on the international market – thanks to inspiration, innovation and passion.

Culture from nature: high-quality carpets from natural fibres
for homes and public buildings.

The Ruckstuhl carpet factory has been using natural, renewable animal and plant fibres since 1881. It turns natural raw materials like coconut fibres, sisal, linen, pure new wool, horsehair and goat hair into out- standingly attractive floor coverings with unique characteristics. In homes

and public buildings, natural fibres create a pleasant indoor climate, spread warmth and comfort, age gracefully and last a long time.

High-tech timber construction: a commitment to wood.

Wood is not just a homely material – it has a wide range of uses, as Hector Egger Holzbau demonstrate again and again. Their experts plan and build all kinds of timber buildings and structures – from houses to high-tech aircraft hangars. Despite being equipped with the latest technology, the high-quality timber is

still milled, sanded, hammered and planed using traditional methods – and still smells wonderfully of resin.

Langenthal – the multifaceted community in the Oberaargau region,
the small town at the heart of central Switzerland.

Langenthal officially became a town in 1997. It is the centre of the Oberaargau region in the canton of Bern. The first thing most visitors notice immediately are the high pavements in the town centre. They were built to guide the waters of the Langete River through the streets in the event of a flood. The flood risk was banished in 1992 when a flood relief tunnel was built.

Langenthal lies in the middle of central Switzerland. It is conveniently located close to the main west–east

and north–south transport axes and offers an unusual mix of culture, tradition and commerce. The spacious Wuhrplatz square is a wonderful place to linger, with steps by the water perfect for sitting on and chestnut trees to provide shade. The adjoining Marktgasse (partially pedestrianised) is ideal for a leisurely stroll and for browsing round the shops.

Two villages, one community.

Surrounded by forests and meadows, Thunstetten lies on a moraine created by the historical Rhone glacier and is a prime residential location, offering fantastic views of the Jura Mountains. As part of the Oberaargau SMARAGD endangered species region, the Thunstetten recreation area has fascinating places to discover. Other special attractions include the church and rectory from the beginning of the last millennium and the famous Thunstetten Castle.

Situated on the Langenthal–Herzogenbuchsee road, the elongated village of Bützberg with its shopping, eating and retail establishments and its industrial companies of international standing is a vital part of the social and economic fabric of Oberaargau. The many farms that cover most of this area provide a contrast to the proud industrial tradition of Bützberg, including companies such as Glas Trösch.
